BXI is the interconnect developed by Eviden for their BullSequana line of supercomputers. It started out as a hardware implementation of Portals.

BXI v3

BXI v3 is an Ethernet-based protocol much in the same way that Slingshot is Ethernet-based.1

BXI v3 will ship in 2025, and Eppe says that many of the features that will eventually be in the UEC specification

It is being developed under the NET4EXA Project,2 a €71M effort sponsored by EuroHPC-JU through 2027 and managed by CEA.

Switch

The BXI v3 switch uses a 64-port 800G ASIC which can be broken out into 128 ports of 400G.1

NIC

BXI v3 will be implemented as an FGPA-based SmartNIC with a 400G serdes.1
