Cray K3000

HPE Cray Supercomputing Storage Systems K3000 is HPE’s DAOS appliance to be sold alongside GX5000. It was first announced alongside the Discovery system.¹

According to Chris Mellor,² it is composed of 1U HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen12 general-purpose servers, each with:

• 2x 48-core Intel Granite Rapids CPUs³
• 512G, 1T, 2T DRAM³
• 20x E3.S NVMe drive bays
  • 8 SSDs per node
  • 12 SSDs per node
  • 16 SSDs per node
  • 20 SSDs per node (capacity-optimized config)
  • And each SSD can be 3.84 TB, 7.68 TB, and 15.4 TB.²³
• ??? NICs per node³
  • 400G Slingshot
  • 400G InfiniBand (NDR)
  • 400G Ethernet
• 85 GB/s read/write³
• 2M 4K random³

Each rack then has:

• Between 4 to 40 nodes (RDHX required for 40-node racks)
• Average 20 nodes per rack
• Up to 75M IOPS¹
• Up to 12.32 PB raw ($20\text{ drives per node}\times 40\text{ nodes per rack}\times 15.4\text{TB}$)
