LRA is the name of the building and co-op in which I live.

Facilities

Electrical

We have 1,200 amp service from PG&E.

During the connection of the solar panels to PG&E, we discovered that our main breaker does not actually disconnect the entire building. The main breaker was off when PG&E disconnected the building at the street, but when they reconnected, emergency lighting immediately turned on despite the main breaker being off. Lesson learned is that if we want assurances of all power in the building being off, we must throw all breakers in the electrical room—in particular, the panel adjacent to the main breaker switch which, in part, services the fire panel.

Here is a photo of that main breaker switch:

Water

Roofing

We have a 4” water main that used to be galvanized steel. The entire main, from the meter to the pump room, was replaced with 4” copper in June 2025.

We used to have a gas-fired trash incinerator which was removed many years ago. The trash chute remains, but there is also an unused smoke stack leading back up to the roof where the incinerator used to exhaust.

The roof is waterproofed with Fibertite.
